Starts with light-hearted stories about a family living through the Great Depression. Then a few stories about a people, dealing with the horrors of a world war that was ready to strike Stories about a nation that gathered all it’s human resources and stood up to be counted. Continues with McGinley s’ involvement with the Illinois Reserve Militia until he was drafted. A few basic training stories that should bring back a memo ire or two. America has never looked better, then she did in World War II. After a few between war stories, this volume covers the Korean War, sometimes called “The Forgotten War.” The Korean War was very difficult to write about. It brought back many sad memories. Even though the Korean War Veteran, was treated like second class citizens, the after war stories, was easer to write.
